Evidently Quentin Tarantino wasn’t quite done living out his Wild West vision when he wrapped on Django Unchained, because we’ve just had a look at the trailer for his eighth and aptly titled film The Hateful Eight. Starring some Tarantino veterans and some new to his work, the cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, and Bruce Dern, and has the promise of as much as, if not likely much more bloodshed than Django Unchained and Inglorious Bastards combined. With just a hint of that wise, old bounty hunter element to it, The Hateful Eight stands to take a wholly new direction, something, perhaps, more akin to the conspiratorial mystery of Reservoir Dogs, but in a period that Tarantino seems to have taken quite a liking to. What we can expect – besides, of course, the cliché unexpected – is enough fast paced and sharp dialogue to keep us thinking through an inevitable onslaught of primitive and Tarantino-esque violence. Two tickets for The Hateful Eight please!
