Though some moviegoers might be inexplicably excited for the new Fantastic Four movie, those of us with any sense at all are vastly more enthralled by the new flick emerging from the visionary eye of filmmaker Guy Ritchie, who brought us such rough and tumble, yet ever so charismatically British films as Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. His latest endeavor, which looks to surpass even the mainstream blockbusterdom of his last two Sherlock Holmes films, is a reinvention of the 1960s television show, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., of the same name. Starring Superman (Henry Cavill) and the Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer), the story follows the unlikely partnership of CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Hammer) as they must join forces to quell a surreptitious criminal element before the world is undone in a nuclear onslaught. Per Ritchie’s aesthetic, the film is sure to be equal parts fast paced action, witty banter and, if we’re lucky, just a hint of romantic intrigue.
